How to use it
Create a QR code in four steps
Quick answer: choose what the code should open, fill in the details, style it and add a logo if you like, then download PNG or SVG. It takes under a minute, needs no account, and the code keeps working with no scan limit.
Choose what it opens
Pick one of 11 types: Website, Text, UPI Pay, WhatsApp, Wi-Fi, Contact, Email, SMS, Call, Location or Event. Fill in the fields and the live preview updates as you type.
Design it
Click one of 14 quick styles or Magic design, or set the dots, corners, colours, logo and a "Scan me" label yourself. Reset takes you back to the default look.
Test-scan it
Point your phone camera at the preview and check it opens the right place. If a warning shows under the code, fix that first.
Download
Choose a size (512 to 4096 px) and download PNG, or SVG for print. JPG, WebP and Copy (to paste straight into a document or chat) are there too.

Why this generator
Free forever, not free for a trial
Many "free" QR code sites quietly make a dynamic code: the printed pattern only holds a short link to their server, which then forwards people to your page. It works until the trial ends. After that, the code on your menu, flyer or packaging stops working unless you pay.
This tool makes static QR codes. Your link or details are stored inside the pattern itself, so there is no middleman to switch it off. The code is drawn in your browser, with no account, no watermark and no tracking.
Never expires
A static code keeps working for as long as the thing it points to exists: your web page, UPI ID or phone number.
Unlimited scans
No monthly scan cap and no "upgrade to keep your QR code active" emails. Scan it a million times if you like.
No sign-up, no watermark
No email, no account and nothing printed on your download except your own code and label.
Private
The code is generated on your device. What you type is not sent to our server.
QR code types
11 types of QR code you can make
Each type writes the content in the format phones expect, so the scanner's phone knows what to do: open a page, start a payment, join a network or save a contact.
Website / URL
Turn any link into a code: your site, a product page, a Google Form, a PDF on Google Drive, a menu or a review page. If you leave out https://, it is added for you. The most common type for flyers, posters and packaging.
UPI payment
Enter your UPI ID, payee name and, if you want, a fixed amount and a note. Google Pay, PhonePe, Paytm, BHIM and other UPI apps can scan it. Leave the amount empty to let the customer type it.
Opens a WhatsApp chat with your number, with an optional pre-filled message. Enter the number with country code, like 919876543210. Good for enquiries, orders and support.
Wi-Fi
Guests scan to join your network without typing the password. Choose WPA/WPA2/WPA3, WEP or an open network, and tick Hidden network if your network name is not broadcast. Works with iPhone and Android cameras.
Contact card (vCard)
Saves your name, company, job title, phone, email, website and address straight into the scanner's contacts. Made for business cards.
Location
Type an address or place name, or exact latitude and longitude. The code opens Google Maps with directions on any phone. Useful for shops, venues and invitations.
Event
Adds your event name, start and end time, place and details to the scanner's calendar. Weddings, webinars and workshops.
Opens a new email with the address, subject and message already filled in. Handy for feedback, bookings and support.
SMS and call
Start a text message or a phone call in one tap, with no dialling or typing. Hotlines, delivery and contests.
Text
Store any text, up to about 2,900 characters: instructions, a coupon code or a short note. It shows on the phone without internet.
PDF, Google Form and social links
There is no separate type for these, and you do not need one. Upload your PDF to Google Drive or your site, copy the share link and make a Website code. The same works for Google Forms, Instagram or YouTube profiles and app store links.
Bulk QR codes
Paste up to 200 links or texts, one per line, and download them all as PNG files in one ZIP, each in your current design. Add a file name with name | content. Table numbers, products and tickets.
Design
Custom design with your logo
A branded code is easier to recognise and trust than a plain black square. Make yours match your brand in a few clicks.
Magic design
Out of ideas? Each click makes a fresh design with matching colours, dots, corners and an icon that suits your QR type. It only picks colours with enough contrast to scan.
Logo in the middle
Upload your own logo or choose from 70+ icons: about 30 general ones (Wi-Fi, menu, pay, location, event…) and 40 social and brand icons. Size it from 10% to 30%, clear the dots behind it and add a white backdrop. Error correction rises automatically so the code still scans.
13 dot styles
Square, Rounded, Soft, Dots, Fluid, Classy, Diamond, V-Lines, H-Lines, Pixel, Mini dots, Cross and Sparkle.
Custom corners
8 corner frames and 7 corner dots, including rounded, circle, leaf, shield, cut, dotted and diamond, with an optional different corner colour.
Colours and gradients
Solid colour, or a linear gradient at any angle, or a radial gradient. Pick any background colour or make it transparent.
Icon colour matching
Keep an icon's original colours, match it to your QR colour, outline it or show it plain, in a rounded, circle or square tile.
"Scan me" frames
Add a label like "Scan me" or "Scan to pay" above or below the code, or an outline frame around it, in your own colours.
14 ready-made styles
Classic, Rounded, Ocean, Sunset, Royal, Midnight, Lines, Neon, Forest, Candy, Coffee, Sky, Pixel and Gold. One click each, then tweak.
Want a brand logo, like your company's or Instagram's? Download the official icon from the brand's website or press kit and use Upload logo. A PNG or SVG with a transparent background looks best. Brand icons are trademarks of their owners, so use them to link to your own profiles.
Static vs dynamic
Static or dynamic: which do you need?
| Feature | Static QR code (this tool) | Dynamic QR code |
|---|---|---|
| Cost | Free forever | Usually a monthly subscription |
| Expiry | Never expires | Stops working if you stop paying |
| Scan limit | Unlimited | Often limited on free plans |
| Change the link after printing | No, make a new code | Yes |
| Scan tracking and analytics | No | Yes |
| Works if the provider shuts down | Yes, the data is inside the code | No, every scan goes through their server |
| Privacy for people who scan | Nobody in between logs the scan | The provider sees each scan |
| Best for | Payments, Wi-Fi, contact cards, packaging, permanent links | Campaigns where the destination will change or you need scan counts |
Tip: need to change the destination later? Point your static code at a page on your own website, like yoursite.com/menu, and update that page instead. The printed code keeps working, free. For scan counts, add UTM tags to the link and read them in your website analytics.
Download and print
Formats and print sizes
Which file format to download
| Format | Best for |
|---|---|
| SVG | Print, signs and packaging. It is vector, so it stays sharp at any size and your printer or designer can edit it. |
| PNG | Websites, social posts and documents. Supports a transparent background. Pick 2048 or 4096 px for large use. |
| JPG | Email and apps that do not accept PNG. No transparency. |
| WebP | Fast-loading websites. |
| Copy | Paste the image straight into a document, slide or chat without saving a file. |
How big to print it
| Where it is used | Minimum size |
|---|---|
| Business card | 2 × 2 cm (0.8 in) |
| Flyer, menu or table tent | 3 × 3 cm (1.2 in), 4 cm is safer |
| Poster read from 1 to 2 m | 10 to 20 cm |
| Banner or billboard | About one tenth of the scanning distance |
Rule of thumb: make the code at least one tenth as wide as the distance people scan it from. Longer content makes a denser code, and a denser code needs to be printed bigger. A short link prints small; a full vCard needs more room.
Advanced
Error correction levels explained
Error correction lets a QR code still scan when part of it is dirty, damaged or covered, including by a logo. Higher levels are tougher but add more dots, so the code gets denser. You will find the setting under Advanced.
| Level | Can recover | Use it for |
|---|---|---|
| L (Low) | About 7% damage | Clean screens, or very long content that must fit |
| M (Medium) | About 15% damage | Most everyday codes. This is the default. |
| Q (High) | About 25% damage | Outdoor print, packaging, small logos |
| H (Max) | About 30% damage | Codes with a logo. Chosen for you when you add one (Q stays if the logo is 20% or smaller). |
Next to it is the quiet zone: the empty margin around the code. The default is 3 modules (dot widths). Do not go below 2, especially when the code sits next to text or a photo.

Scan-proof tips
Make sure your QR code always scans
The generator checks your design as you go and shows a warning for low contrast, inverted colours, a margin under 2 modules, a large logo or a very dense code.
Do
- Use dark dots on a light background with strong contrast.
- Keep a clear margin (quiet zone) around the code.
- Add a call to action like "Scan to pay" or "Scan for menu".
- Keep the logo under about 25% of the code's width.
- Use short links. Less content makes a simpler code that scans faster.
- Test-scan with at least two different phones before printing.
Don't
- Use light dots on a dark background. Some older scanners cannot read inverted codes.
- Print it too small, or on curved, shiny or textured surfaces.
- Stretch or squash the image when you place it in a design.
- Crop the margin or put the code right against other graphics.
- Link to a page that does not work well on phones.
- Print before checking the link for typos.
Why contrast matters
Pale colours fail in dim light and on cheap phone cameras. If you use a gradient, keep both colours dark.
Why short content matters
Every extra character adds dots. A long link with tracking tags can double the density, so shorten it if you print small.
Scanning
How to scan a QR code
iPhone
- Open the Camera app.
- Point it at the QR code.
- Tap the banner that appears.
Android
- Open the Camera or Google Lens.
- Point it at the QR code.
- Tap the link or action shown.
UPI payments
- Open any UPI app.
- Tap Scan QR.
- Check the name and amount, then pay.
Privacy
Your data stays in your browser
Links, Wi-Fi passwords, UPI IDs and contact details are turned into a QR code on your own device. They are not uploaded to our server, and because the code is static, nobody (including us) sees who scans it.
One thing to keep in mind: a QR code is not encrypted. Anyone who scans it can read what is inside, so only put a Wi-Fi password or phone number where you would happily share it anyway.
FAQ
Frequently asked questions
Is this QR code generator really free?
Yes. Every type, the logo, colours, styles, frames, bulk ZIP and all download formats are free, with no sign-up, no watermark and no premium plan.
Do the QR codes expire?
No. They are static codes, so the content is stored inside the code itself. They work with no scan limit for as long as the link or details inside them are still valid.
How do I make a QR code with a logo in the middle?
Open Logo in the design panel. Upload your logo (a PNG or SVG with a transparent background works best) or pick one of the 70+ icons, then set the size. Error correction is raised automatically so the code still scans. Test-scan if you make the logo large.
How do I create a QR code for a link or website?
Choose Website, paste your URL, style it if you like and download. This works for any link, including Google Forms, Google Drive PDFs, YouTube videos and social profiles.
Can I make a QR code for a PDF?
Yes. Upload the PDF to Google Drive, Dropbox or your website, set sharing to "anyone with the link can view", copy the link and make a Website code with it. Need to shrink the file first? Try our Compress PDF tool.
How do I create a UPI QR code for payments?
Choose UPI Pay, enter your UPI ID and payee name, and optionally a fixed amount and a note. Customers scan it with any UPI app, such as Google Pay, PhonePe or Paytm, and pay you directly.
Can I create a Wi-Fi QR code?
Yes. Enter the network name, password and security type, and tick Hidden network if needed. Guests scan it with their phone camera and join without typing.
Can I change the link after I print the QR code?
Not with a static code. If you might change it later, point the code at a page on your own website and update that page instead. The printed code keeps working.
Which format should I download, PNG or SVG?
SVG for printing, packaging and large signs, because it stays sharp at any size. PNG for websites, social media and documents. Pick 2048 or 4096 px if you need a big PNG.
Can I generate multiple QR codes at once?
Yes. Open Bulk QR codes, paste up to 200 links or texts (one per line, optionally name | content to set the file name) and download them as a ZIP of PNG files, each in your current design.
Why isn't my QR code scanning?
The usual causes are low contrast, light dots on a dark background, a missing margin, a logo that is too big or a print that is too small. The tool warns you about most of these under the preview. Fix them and scan again.
Can I use these QR codes commercially?
Yes. Use them on products, packaging, ads, menus and anything else, with no attribution needed.
Do you track scans?
No. A static code opens the destination directly, so no one, including us, sees who scanned it. If you need scan counts, add UTM parameters to the link and check your website analytics.
Is it safe to put my Wi-Fi password or UPI ID in a QR code?
The code is made in your browser and never sent to us. Remember that anyone who scans it can see what is inside, so only display it where you would share that information anyway.
