Quick answer
Six apps with a named seller list Tamil films on the US App Store as of October 2026: Sun NXT, aha, Simply South, Tentkotta, ZEE5 and Sony LIV. Paying yearly changes the math: aha's in-app price is $7.99 for the Tamil Monthly Plan, or $34.99 for the Tamil Annual Plan (about $2.92 a month). Start with aha or Sun NXT, and copy the seller name from the table below.
You typed Tamilprint2 into a search bar because a new Tamil film is out and you'd like to watch it from the US tonight. Tamilprint2 is a site name people search for free Tamil movies, and we couldn't confirm who runs it. So this guide covers Tamil movies in the US from services that name their seller, each with a dollar price read on October 30, 2026.
First up are the six apps that list Tamil films on the US App Store, then what the plans cost in dollars. The big screen, what we tested, whether a Tamil film is copyrighted and our pick for a first Tamil subscription come after.
Key takeaways
- aha's Tamil Annual Plan is $34.99 in-app on Apple, about $2.92 a month.
- A second US app named Simply South sells restaurant food, not films.
- India joined the Berne Convention in 1928, so US law protects Tamil films.
- aha, Sony LIV and Simply South list Apple TV on their US listings.
- Apple re-bills Simply South's Monthly Pack every 30 days until canceled.
Six apps that list Tamil films on the US App Store
Each of these six has a US App Store listing that names Tamil or South Indian films in its own words.
Apple prints two company names on a listing: a Developer line under the app name and a Seller line in the Information section. We copy the Seller line, since that's the company Apple names as selling the app. For Sun NXT, aha and Sony LIV, the same company also appears on the service's own website.
Sun NXT is the Sun TV Network's app, and its US App Store listing is sold by SUN TV NETWORK LIMITED. The listing opens with "Stream movies, TV shows, Shorts and live TV in Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, Kannada, Bengali & Marathi." It names Tamil films by title too, starting with "Tamil: Vadam, My Lord, Moondram Kan." Its list of daily serials is led by "Tamil: Moondru Mudichu, Ethir Neechal Thodargirathu, Kayal." The Sun NXT website gives its legal name as Sun TV Network Limited and puts Tamil first in its list of languages.
Then there's aha, sold on the US store by ARHA MEDIA & BROADCASTING PRIVATE LIMITED. Its App Store listing carries the subtitle "Telugu & Tamil Entertainment." It says "aha consolidates the best of Telugu and Tamil movies and shows into a single OTT app." The footer of aha.video names the same company: Arha Media and Broadcasting Pvt Ltd. Only want Tamil? The description says the two languages "now coexist" in one app. It also promises "Your language preferences remain unchanged, giving you full control over what you watch."
Simply South leans on catalog size. Its US listing, sold by Home Screen Entertainment PTE LTD, promises "over 1600+ Movies in Tamil & Malayalam." The title of the Simply South website says "Enjoy 1800+ Movies." The two counts don't agree. We use the App Store figure, since it's the page US buyers see. The listing calls the app a destination for South Indian entertainment "outside India," which fits the message its website showed our test machine in India. It also promises movies "in 1080p HD, with 5.1 Surround Sound, and with English subtitles," a useful detail if anyone in your house doesn't follow Tamil.
Tentkotta writes for South Indian families living abroad. Its listing, sold by Cinematix LLC, opens with people who "miss our tradition and the fun of watching South Indian movies." The Tentkotta website title reads "Your Home for Tamil Cinema," and its description calls the service "Pocket-friendly, ad-free, and 100% legal." That phrase is Tentkotta's claim, not ours. Apple's lookup data links the Cinematix LLC listing to tentkotta.com. About other places to watch, the listing says "most of these sites are streaming movies illegally (pirated versions)."
Two bigger apps cover many languages. ZEE5's listing, sold by Z5X Global FZ-LLC, promises "content across Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, Bengali, Marathi, Kannada, English and more." Sony LIV's listing, sold by SONY PICTURES NETWORKS INDIA PVT LTD, mentions films "Whether it's Bollywood, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Gujarati or Malayalam movies." The Sony LIV website footer names Sony Pictures Networks India Private Limited.
ZEE5's listing says its live sports are "streamed live and on demand in India," so cricket fans in the US shouldn't count on them.
Diagram by DigitalTreed: six apps and the Tamil wording on each US listing, saved October 30, 2026.Here are the six side by side. The seller column comes first because two different sellers use the name Simply South on the US store.
| App | US App Store seller | Its own Tamil wording | Apple TV on the listing |
| Sun NXT | SUN TV NETWORK LIMITED | Live TV and movies "in Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam..." | No (iPhone, iPad) |
| aha | ARHA MEDIA & BROADCASTING PRIVATE LIMITED | "Telugu & Tamil Entertainment" | Yes |
| Simply South | Home Screen Entertainment PTE LTD | "over 1600+ Movies in Tamil & Malayalam" | Yes |
| Tentkotta | Cinematix LLC | "South Indian movies" (website: "Tamil Cinema") | No (iPhone, iPad) |
| ZEE5 | Z5X Global FZ-LLC | Tamil among 8 named languages "and more" | No (iPhone, iPad) |
| Sony LIV | SONY PICTURES NETWORKS INDIA PVT LTD | Tamil named in its movies line | Yes |
Two apps that turn up in the same searches didn't make the table. A second app called Simply South, sold by SS Irving LLC, sits in Food & Drink and promises "Earn free food with rewards points." It's a restaurant's ordering app.
In our check, the word Tamil showed up 9 times in aha's description, 7 times in Sun NXT's and twice each for ZEE5, Sony LIV and Simply South. JioHotstar's US listing never says Tamil in its description and shows Tamil only in its list of app languages, so we left it off. If a result doesn't show one of the six sellers above, close it.
What the plans cost on the US App Store
So which one fits your budget? The prices below are the in-app purchase lines Apple shows on each US listing, in US dollars. A plan goes on a per-month basis only when its name states the term. The formula is the price divided by the months.
Our test machine is in India, and the services' own websites showed it regional pages, a not-available notice or an almost empty page instead of US prices.
Simply South's site, for one, answered "Sorry, this site is currently not available in your country." So every price below is an Apple in-app line.
| App | Plan name as listed | US in-app price (as of October 2026) | Per month (price / months) |
| aha | Tamil Monthly Plan | $7.99 | $7.99 |
| aha | Tamil Annual Plan | $34.99 | $2.92 ($34.99 / 12) |
| Sun NXT | Monthly Basic Subscription Plan | $9.99 | $9.99 |
| Sun NXT | Annual subscription plan | $59.99 | $5.00 ($59.99 / 12) |
| ZEE5 | HD Monthly | $5.99 | $5.99 |
| ZEE5 | 4K Annual | $124.99 | $10.42 ($124.99 / 12) |
| Simply South | Simply South Quarterly Pack | $15.99 | $5.33 ($15.99 / 3) |
| Simply South | Simply South Half-yearly pack | $30.99 | $5.17 ($30.99 / 6) |
| Simply South | Simply South Yearly Pack | $59.99 | $5.00 ($59.99 / 12) |
| Sony LIV | LIV Premium (two lines) | $7.99 and $49.99 | Term not shown |
| Tentkotta | None listed | Not shown | Not shown |
The yearly plans are where the gap opens up. Twelve months of aha's Tamil Monthly Plan cost $7.99 x 12 = $95.88, against $34.99 for the Tamil Annual Plan. That's $60.89 less. Among the yearly plans these listings show, aha's works out lowest per month at $2.92, as of October 2026. Sony LIV's two LIV Premium lines don't say what period they cover, so they stay off the per-month column, even though one costs about six times the other. Watching only a few films a year? Simply South's $15.99 Quarterly Pack covers three months and costs less than any yearly plan in the table, so it's a cheap way to try a catalog.
Diagram by DigitalTreed: yearly plans divided by 12, from in-app prices on the US App Store, October 30, 2026.Watch the plan names closely, because the in-app lists mix languages and tiers as of October 2026. The aha listing also shows a Telugu Monthly Plan at $3.99 and a Telugu Annual Plan at $19.99, plus aha GOLD lines at $14.99 and $59.99. For Tamil films, pick the line with Tamil in its name. ZEE5's list marks five of its ten lines "(Discontinued)," including a $499.99 one. Skip those lines. Sun NXT's list runs from the $9.99 Monthly Basic Subscription Plan to a $79.99 Annual Platinum, and it doesn't say what each tier adds.
Buying in the app also means Apple handles the billing. Simply South's listing says its monthly pack will "be re-billed every 30 days year-round by Apple iTunes until cancelled by the user." Apple's cancel a subscription page covers any plan "that you purchased with an app from the App Store," from the web or your device. Timing matters here. The same listing says a subscription "automatically renews unless auto-renew is turned off at least 24-hours before the end of the current period." It adds "Simply South cannot manage Apple iTunes subscriptions." Only want one month? Turn off auto-renew at least a full day before it ends.
Tamil films on the big screen: TV apps and theaters
Once you've picked a plan, you can start it on a phone, but a film shot for theaters plays better on a TV. There are two legal routes to a big screen: a TV app from the same seller, or a theater that books the film.
Start with the device line on each App Store listing. Of the six, aha, Sony LIV and Simply South list iPhone, iPad and Apple TV, so the same purchase can play on an Apple TV box.
Sun NXT, ZEE5 and Tentkotta list only iPhone and iPad on Apple's store. We didn't check Roku or smart TV apps. If you're still choosing hardware for the living room, our comparison of OTT boxes and smart TV apps sets the two side by side. For a code-based TV sign-in, our YouTube TV activation guide walks through one example.
Drawn by us: the two big-screen routes, from the US App Store device lines and the Prathyangira Cinemas About page, October 30, 2026.Big Tamil releases also reach US theaters through overseas distributors. One of them, Prathyangira Cinemas, calls itself "a leading overseas film distribution house." Its About page credits its founder with distributing "RRR, Leo, Stree 2 and Kalki."
The site has a Theater List and a Schedule. On October 30, 2026, the Schedule page showed no listings to our checker.
Theater chain websites blocked our checker with a 403 error, so we don't quote any showtimes. In your own browser, search the chain's site for the film's title and check that the language says Tamil before you book.
What we tested
Those seller names and prices came from our own check. On October 30, 2026, we saved eight US App Store listings and Apple's lookup data with a plain request and an honest user agent. A local script counted the word Tamil in each description, read the device line, listed the in-app lines and matched 55 quotes word for word. All 55 matched.
Screenshot: the listing-check table we served on 127.0.0.1:8023 from eight listings saved October 30, 2026. Our own page, not Apple's.Is a Tamil film copyrighted in the US?
That brings up the legal side. Yes, a Tamil film first published in India is protected by US copyright, through a treaty India joined in 1928.
The US Copyright Office's general FAQ says the US has copyright relations with most countries, and "we honor each other's citizens' copyrights." Under section 104(b) of the Copyright Act, a published work is protected if it's first published in a country that is a treaty party.
India is one of those treaty parties. The Copyright Office's Circular 38A lists India's Berne Convention membership from April 1, 1928. Section 106 of the same law gives a film's owner the exclusive right "to perform the copyrighted work publicly." Unpublished works get the same cover, protected "without regard to the nationality or domicile of the author," according to section 104(a) of the same chapter. And section 501 says anyone who violates those rights "is an infringer of the copyright." If your own case is unclear, a copyright lawyer can answer it.
Back to the search term. We couldn't confirm who runs Tamilprint2 or what rights it holds, so we never opened the site and leave it unlinked here. The FTC names no sites, but its May 2019 consumer alert about pirate video apps says their malware "may try to infect other devices connected to your network." Among the risks it lists: hackers could "Steal your credit card information and sell it to other hackers on the dark web." Its malware guide lists "You get a lot of pop-up ads" among the signs of infection. The same guide says "Don’t download content through peer-to-peer (P2P) file-sharing sites." Converter and download sites raise the same questions, and our MP4Juice safety guide answers them.
Our pick for a first Tamil subscription
Our take: buy one month of aha's Tamil Monthly Plan in the app, $7.99 as of October 2026, and watch it on an Apple TV box, which its listing supports. If the catalog keeps you watching through that first month, switch to the $34.99 Tamil Annual Plan before renewal and you'll save $60.89 over paying monthly for a year. Want the Sun Network's serials and channels instead? Sun NXT's $9.99 Monthly Basic Subscription Plan is the entry line on its list.
Not ready to pay? Our list of legal free movie apps in the US covers licensed services paid for by ads or a library card. We didn't check their Tamil catalogs, so treat them as a backup. There are separate guides to free anime streaming and to what to do when kisskh won't load.
Questions about Tamil streaming in the US
Frequently asked
How do I cancel a Tamil app subscription I bought on my iPhone?
Through Apple, not the app. Apple's support article covers subscriptions bought in App Store apps, on the web or your device.
Can I pay for one Tamil film instead of a plan?
Simply South's US listing shows in-app lines named New Release at $2.99 and Old Release at $0.99, as of October 2026. It doesn't say how long a title stays.
Does Sun NXT have live Tamil TV channels?
Its App Store listing promises "20+ live TV channels from the Sun Network to viewers across the world."
How we made this guide: We saved each app's US App Store page and Apple's lookup data, then read the copyright law and FTC pages. Our test machine is in India, so no US price comes from a service's own website. Facts checked by the DigitalTreed team on October 30, 2026.
